Former Detroit Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill has given the Chicago Blackhawks new life this season and received heaps of praise for turning the rebuilding team around.

At 3rd in the Central Division, the Chicago Blackhawks look remarkably better this season.
The team has a record of 10-6-4 and is a firebrand, with Connor Bedard and goaltender Spencer Knight leading the way.
However, one factor is missing that we haven't talked about yet: head coach Jeff Blashill, who was introduced as the Blackhawks' new coach in May.
Blashill's coaching has been a godsend after the last two hires, Luke Richardson and Anders Sorensen, didn't work out.
Although Sorensen remains with the team in an assistant role, Blashill has worked hard to turn the team into a competitor.
It seems to have worked, as the former Detroit Red Wings head coach and a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning's coaching staff has brought wisdom that works to Chicago.
The Blackhawks' improvement is more than aesthetic, as even with the Centennial Uniforms, the team has proven itself more than capable of being a dominant force in a division they were once bottom-dwellers in.

Ex-Red Wing Jeff Blashill Improves the Blackhawks significantly

Expectations for both Jeff Blashill and the Chicago Blackhawks will continue to rise as the team could fight for a spot in the playoffs this season.
Blashill's all-time coaching record is 214-267-76, with a .452 percentage overall.
This underlying statistic could improve for the better with the former Red Wings coach giving Bedard a longer leash, in addition to putting his confidence in a Blackhawks team that is on fire.
His ability to break through to the players and utilize multiple resources to help them learn from their mistakes.
Blashill's impact has turned around the Blackhawks in 2025-26 and could lead to greater things down the road.
