The Detroit Red Wings have announced the signing of a 24-year old defenseman on Monday, one day before July 1st free agency.

Steve Yzerman is buckling up for a busy free agent frenzy tomorrow with multiple moves on Monday.
Things kicked off with a huge trade between the Detroit Red Wings and Minnesota Wild involving Vladimir Tarasenko which was a large cap relief, freeing up a whopping $4.75M in cap space.

Just hours later, the general manager capitalized on the departure of Tarasenko by announcing the signing of a 24-year-old defenseman, Albert Johansson.
The rookie defenseman played a key role in the Red Wings defense last season (further than what the scoresheet shows) in what was his first NHL season, posting up 9 points in 61 games.
"ALJO!

The #RedWings have signed Albert Johansson to a two-year contract with an AAV of $1,125,000."

This is just one of several dominos expected to fall today as the organization is also forced to complete a 3-player move before 5:00 p.m.
As many are pondering about the potential star free agent Mitch Marner to the Red Wings, sources confirm that will not be happening.
Several other options, including former Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers, Florida Panthers defenseman Nikolaj Ehlers, are linked to the Red Wings.
