The Detroit Red Wings are coming off a 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings at Little Caesars Arena last night, marking their 3rd straight win after a brief losing streak under new coach Todd McLellan.
However, more notable names were missing from today's practice session. Captain Dylan Larkin was not on the ice with the rest of his teammates, while J.T. Compher and Vladimir Tarasenko remained absent as well.
But according to coach Todd McLellan, Larkin was absent due to taking a maintenance day and should be fine for the start of Detroit's road trip which begins Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers in Alberta.
The Red Wings featured 29 year old Dominik Shine in the lineup for last night's game, marking his very 1st NHL action after years of playing in the American Hockey League for the Grand Rapids Griffins.
As a Michigan native, it was something that Shine dreamt about as a kid and will naturally remember forever.
McLellan noted that Shine will likely remain with the Red Wings for now thanks to the uncertainty with their injured players, which include Patrick Kane and J.T. Compher along with Vladimir Tarasenko, who remains absent due to an illness; all three missed last night's win over the Kings.
