Last-minute announcement involving the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks is confirmed

As the NHL offseason quickly winds down, preseason hockey will be underway before we know it.

On Tuesday, the Red Wings announced their 2025-26 preseason schedule which includes an eight game slate.

The Red Wings' 2025 preseason schedule features home and home games with the Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres, Pittsbugh Penguins and Toronto Maple Leafs, similar to past preseason games.

Former Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill, who was recently named the Chicago's 42nd head coach in Blackhawks history, will return to Detroit on September 23.

To wrap up preseason, the Red Wings will play back-to-back games against the Maple Leafs.

Sept. 23 vs. Chicago, 7 p.m.

Sept. 25 vs. Buffalo, 7 p.m.

Sept. 26 at Pittsburgh, 7 p.m.

Sept. 27 at Buffalo, 3 p.m.

Sept. 29 vs. Pittsburgh, 7 p.m.

Sept. 30 at Chicago, 8 p.m.

Oct. 2 at Toronto, 7 p.m.

Oct. 4 vs. Toronto, 7 p.m.

Excited for Red Wings preseason hockey? You should be, as several exciting names will be in the preseason lineup battling for a roster spot, and it'll be their first official times donning the Original Six winged wheel jersey.

Axel Sandin Pellikka, Nate Danielson, Michael Brandsegg-Nygard are just a few names to note.
