Marc-Andre Fleury has perfect response when asked why he didn't fight Red Wings' Cam Talbot
The Red Wings and Wild got into several on-ice spats on Saturday, but Marc-Andre Fleury wasn't about to ask for a piece of Red Wings goalie Cam Talbot.
The
Detroit Red Wings and Minnesota Wild may as well have been old rivals with how things unfolded on Saturday afternoon at Little Caesars Arena.
There were several on-ice spats, including a ruckus in the second period after Detroit's
Alex DeBrincat leveled
Brock Faber next to the Detroit net, causing a melee.
But was Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury thinking of skating down the ice and asking his former teammate Cam Talbot to drop the mitts? Not likely.
I saw Talbot with his shirt off on vacation. [Talbot] has got some big guns and is pretty ripped. So I didn't like my odds in that one.
Unfortunately for the Red Wings, the Wild seized victory from the jaws of defeat after they fought back from a 3-1 deficit to win 4-3 in OT.
Marc-Andre Fleury played his final game against the Red Wings in Detroit
The longtime goaltender has plans to retire after this year, and made what was his final start in Detroit against the Red Wings.
Red Wings fans remember all too well his miraculous diving save on Detroit captain Nicklas Lidstrom in the dying seconds of Game 7 in the 2009 Stanley Cup Final at Joe Louis Arena with the Pittsburgh Penguins, one of the most iconic stops in NHL history with the Cup on the line.
Fleury has also played for the Vegas Golden Knights and briefly with the Chicago Blackhawks.
