Milan Lucic is already facing a setback on his return to the NHL with the St. Louis Blues after missing the 2024-25 season.

The St. Louis Blues surprised a lot of people by announcing that Milan Lucic would join the team on a professional tryout during the offseason.
Lucic didn't take part in the 2024-25 season after facing off-ice issues, and many believed the 37-year-old veteran would retire from professional hockey.
That wasn't the case, and he reported to the St. Louis Blues training camp in the hope of cracking the lineup.
However, he is already facing significant adversity.

Milan Lucic Faces Injury Setback In Preseason With St. Louis Blues

Indeed, the Blues head coach Jim Montgomery revealed in a press conference that the controversial forward got injured and will be re-evaluated on a day-to-day basis:
"He's day-to-day. He's walking around fine. It's just a matter of being able to push out there. It's unfortunate timing for him and us for the evaluation process to see if he can make the club.

If he's really day-to-day, and he's back to play next week, he'll get into games and we'll see if he can make the team."
The Boston Bruins' second-round pick in 2006 scored an assist in the Blues' first preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Over his career, he took part in 1,177 regular-season games with Boston, the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, and Calgary Flames. He scored 586 points, including 233 goals, and 1,301 penalty minutes over his 17-season NHL career.
He also added 29 goals and 48 assists in 136 playoff games, notably winning a Stanley Cup with the Bruins in 2011.
Updates on his health will follow, but as of now, nothing indicates he would miss the Blues' first game of the season, on October 9, against the Minnesota Wild, if he were to make the team.
