An overtime controversy worked in the Red Wings' favor in Thursday night's game against the Kings to help Detroit extend its winning streak to three.

Todd McLellan and the Detroit Red Wings were in Los Angeles last night to face the Kings amid their five-game road trip, marking the coach's return to Crypto.com Arena for the first time since he was fired as the Kings' coach in 2024.
A strong performance from the special units and help from the referees helped the Red Wings get away with a 4-3 shootout win.
"Obviously, we don't want that to happen, but to battle through that, good PK in overtime, and to win in a shootout is great. Two points is two points, and it doesn't matter how you get them. I thought we battled well today." - Alex DeBrincat

"I felt good. Obviously, sitting around for a week or so after letting in seven last game, I wanted to come out and make sure I was ready. Made that big save right in the first minute off the 2-on-1 (by Joel Armia), and just kind of kept rolling from there. Confidence kept building, and I felt pretty comfortable." - Cam Talbot

"Obviously, emotions were all over the place. We'd given up the two-goal lead. Thought we were only leaving with a point. So give the guys credit, you know, for sticking with it, recovering, finding a way." - Todd McLellan

However, on social media, fans are debating whether the Kings should've won the game after a questionable call in overtime overturned the game-winning goal.
