The Detroit Red Wings' historic streak in the AHL was halted last night after concerning injuries struck the lineup.

The Grand Rapids Griffins have been the hottest team in the American Hockey League so far this season, with an eight-game winning streak to start the year.
However, last night, the team suffered its first loss. Although not in regulation time, they still didn't win, being defeated 4-3 by the Chicago Wolves in a shootout.
Their impressive 8-0-0-1 start after nine games is the best in franchise history, but things could take a downturn now. In addition to Nate Danielson currently being unavailable for the Griffins as he makes his first strides in the NHL, their two best goaltenders are injured.

Grand Rapids Griffins Lose For The First Time This Season After Injuries To Two Top Goalies

Prior to the game, the Griffins had called up Carter Gylander from the ECHL to replace Sebastian Cossa, who is currently dealing with a day-to-day injury.
Michal Postava started the game between the pipes but had to leave due to an injury with less than 10 minutes left in the first period.
Gylander made his season debut with Grand Rapids, stopping 22 out of the 25 shots fired toward him.
As of now, with Cossa and Postava injured, not only are the Griffins in trouble, but the Red Wings are too.
If John Gibson or Cam Talbot gets injured, Gylander is the next one in line for the job. An extended absence from Cossa or Postava could force Steve Yzerman to acquire yet another goalie.
An official update from the organization should be made before the Griffins' next game, which is set to go down November 12th.
Stay tuned for more.
