John Gibson showed encouraging signs earlier Friday at practice after an injury forced him to leave Thursday night's game against the Anaheim Ducks.

The Detroit Red Wings were left in a tough situation regarding their goaltenders last night in the game against the Anaheim Ducks.
Indeed, when John Gibson left the game after two periods, he was the third goaltender within the organization to walk down the tunnel with an injury in the past week.
In the AHL, the Grand Rapids Griffins had to call up Carter Gylander from the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL after Sebastian Cossa was injured in practice and Michal Postava had to leave a game due to his own injury.
The general manager of the organization, Steve Yzerman, was even forced to sign Dustin Tokarski to an AHL PTO to add short-term reinforcements to his team.
With Gibson injured, Gylander is the next in line to get the number two spot in Detroit.
But today, the team and its fans breathe a sigh of relief.

Encouraging Signs For John Gibson Today At Practice

After beating the Ducks 6-3, the Wings were back at practice today.
Despite leaving the game after two periods, Gibson was on the ice at practice, suggesting the worst-case scenario was avoided in Detroit:
The Red Wings have back-to-back games against the Buffalo Sabres and the New York Rangers over the weekend.
If Gibson had been unavailable for the two games, that would've forced Yzerman to call up someone from the Griffins.
The fact that he practices with the team suggests he will be between the pipes for one of the two upcoming games.
An official confirmation from the organization should be released soon. Stay tuned.
