The Detroit Red Wings' AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, announced that they've signed a six-foot-two forward to a professional tryout contract.

Last night, the Grand Rapids Griffins lost for the first time this season. After an undefeated start, they saw their streak end in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Chicago Wolves.
In the game, the team lost Michal Postava to an injury. With Sebastian Cossa already injured, a lot of fans were eager to see if the organization would acquire another goaltender to fill in with the Griffins.
However, they announced that they've acquired a forward instead.

Grand Rapids Griffins Sign Forward Nolan Moyle To PTO

On Tuesday, the Grand Rapids Griffins confirmed in an official press release that they had signed the six-foot-two forward Nolan Moyle to a contract.
Moyle, 26, started the season with the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL but was offered a chance to make it at the next level after an impressive eight-point tally in his first seven games of the season.
Last season, he scored 15 points, including six goals, in 32 games with the Walleye. He also added five points in 20 playoff games during the Walleye's run to the Kelly Cup Finals.
The undrafted right winger also spent two years in the KHL with Kunlun Red Star.
Prior to his KHL journey, Moyle spent five seasons with the University of Michigan, making this move a return to the state where he spent the biggest part of his career.
Back in September, when we reported that Moyle had signed with the Walleye, I wrote that it would be interesting to see if management would take notice of him and offer him opportunities to climb within the organization.
It's safe to say that it happened. Do you think we'll see him in the NHL this season?
