A Detroit Red Wings prospect surpassed Brett Hull with an incredible feat in the NCAA.

Yesterday, Nate Danielson, one of the Wings' top prospects, made his NHL debut.
He was the fourth player to do so in Detroit this season, after Emmitt Finnie, Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, and Axel Sandin Pellikka.
This highlights how well the Wings drafted in recent years.
But other players selected by Detroit who are still not in the AHL are also accomplishing great things.
Indeed, one of them just surpassed Brett Hull in the NCAA.

Wings Prospect Max Plante Surpasses Brett Hull In NCAA

The Red Wings' 47th overall pick in 2024, Max Plante, scored his 50th point in the NCAA over the weekend.
What's impressive is that he is the fastest player in NCAA history to do so, a mark that was held by Brett Hull for the past forty years.
After the game, the player opened up on his feat:
«That's pretty cool. Is my dad ahead of me?"

His dad, Derek Plante, who won the Stanley Cup with the Dallas Stars in 1999, needed over 50 games to score 50 NCAA points. Max did it in 36 games. Brett Hull did it in 37 games.
He also shared comments about the game after he had his 50th point with the overtime goal:
"I don't think we had our worst game, we just definitely didn't have our best game. Third period was our best period of the night. We were all over them. We could have scored a couple three goals. We got one of them, fortunately. Thankfully we got the two points at the end.

Coming around the net, I kind of didn't want them to edge me off, and then I heard the crowd going nuts that I didn't shoot it. So I was just kind of thinking in practice I had that same shot probably like two or three times this week and I scored. My dad always talked about if you're feeling good in practice, a lot of times you're going to score and that sort of thing. I'm fortunate it went in, and glory to God, it was pretty nice."
Plante, 19, could spend one or two more seasons in the NCAA before going to the next level.
If he keeps that rhythm, he will be ready to have an impact with the Red Wings soon.
