The Detroit Red Wings reassign goaltender Carter Gylander to the ECHL ahead of tonight's game against the Boston Bruins.

TD Garden will be rocking tonight, as the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings will engage in another Original Six matchup.
Ahead of the game tonight at 7:00 P.M., the Red Wings have reassigned goaltender Carter Gylander to the ECHL's Toledo Walleyes.

Gylander has had 5 games with the Griffins to show what he's capable of while Michal Postava and Sebastian Cossa have been out on injury.
He's had a great showing with a record of 4-0-1, with a 2.01 GAA (goals against average), and a .930 save percentage.
The Red Wings have a goaltender logjam, a great issue as the team could ostensibly find reliable goalies up and down the pipeline from the AHL to the ECHL.
Now, he'll continue to develop into a call-up that the Red Wings could trust in the future, depending on how the pipeline in the NHL and AHL is resolved, as the team is currently relying on Cam Talbot and John Gibson.
Gylander has played a total of eight AHL games in his career with a record of 6-1-1, with a 2.59 GAA, and a .914 save percentage.
His ECHL career has been as productive with the Toledo Walleye, with a record of 3-2-0 this season, with a 2.61 GAA, and a .902 save percentage.
Gylander is a former 7th-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings, selected 191st overall in the 2019 NHL Draft. He signed his entry-level contract with the Original Six team in April 2024.
The question remains with this deep a prospect pipeline, are the Red Wings going to move on from some veterans this postseason?
Could the Red Wings trade John Gibson?
