Red Wings Reporter Calls out GM Steve Yzerman

This season, Todd McLellan and the Detroit Red Wings haven't been able to move the needle when it comes to success.

Given the kind of hockey Yzerman played with the Wings when he was winning Stanley Cups here, we'd think he'd want to replicate that success. However, he's delivered weakly constructed teams, with veterans who are aging out of their prime, for example, Patrick Kane.

We can't help but feel for Chris Vannini, who is on the nose here. What is the goal of the Yzerplan? The Draft picks are good, but the young talent is trickling in too slowly, while the veterans have overstayed their welcome.

Should owner Chris Illitch unhitch the wagon from the Yzerplan? It's lost the trust of the fans, and the noise continues to grow louder as pundits continue to speak ill of the results we've seen.

According to NHL.com's records, GM Steve Yzerman has barely cracked a .500 winning percentage in his six years here.

He has a record of 450-180-219-51, 411 points, and .457 during his career as GM.

That is a brutal record for someone who has had to rebuild from the foundation up after Ken Holland left. But by now, you'd think he'd have it figured out by now?
