The Detroit Red Wings' Todd McLellan held his players accountable today after losing to their rivals, the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The performance against the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight left something to be desired.
The team was unable to control the ice or clear the crease, which allowed multiple goals in a short period of time.
A defensive nightmare was in store for the Detroit Red Wings tonight, as they paid for their mistakes dearly with a score of 6-3 and their third loss in a row to a division rival.
His frustrations began to boil as we've witnessed recently from Todd McLellan.
The performance caused Head Coach Todd McLellan to ask questions of his players' abilities during a defensive slide tonight.
Head Coach Todd McLellan:
«First, you got to look and say, 'Are we good enough? Do we have enough talent?' Yeah, we do,» McLellan said. «We don't get 13 wins 25 games in without having a team that can play well enough. Are we playing well enough? No, we're not. Why aren't we? There's a little bit of disconnect between forwards and D right now. And then in a team game, you sometimes get punished as a team, score-wise, momentum-wise, win-loss wise, for individual mistakes. And that happens. Team breakdowns are much more repairable than just an individual faux pas.

«So, let's take care of what we can take care of. If you're an individual and you're playing, clean it up. And if you can't, then we got to start asking ourselves, 'Do you belong?' This is about all of us. If you can't clean it up, we got to figure things out.»

The Detroit Red Wings have suffered a startling loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning

The team suffered another 3-point loss and now has a record of 13-11-1 in the Atlantic and has suffered a string of losses.
Three in their last four is not a metric that a team can win by any means.
The team's defensive breakdowns have been evident, as they're now 26th in the NHL with goals allowed per game (3.44) compared to the nine goals allowed during their 5-game streak in October.
The Red Wings need some help to shore up the team on the blue line because it doesn't seem like they're getting it done and protecting the crease.
While McLellan advised the team not to give up free goals this week, they have gifted 16 goals to the opposition in the last three games.
