The Red Wings currently stand just below the second Eastern Conference Wild Card spot, right below the Montreal Canadiens, and it has been revealed the organization still has a shot.
Although it would take a lot of work and dedication, a miracle may just be on the rise, and the Red Wings can possibly crush their playoff absence streak.
The Detroit Red Wings still have a shot at the 2025 NHL Playoffs
The Red Wings take on the Florida Panthers today, April 10, and even a regulation loss tonight would not eliminate Detroit from playoff consideration.
However, if that did occur, the Red Wings would still be eight points away from the Montreal Canadiens with only four games remaining.
That being said, if Detroit wins all of its remaining games, and Montreal lost all four games in regulation, the two teams would ultimately be tied for the Eastern Conference second Wild Card spot, and if this does happen, that would leave Detroit to surpass Montreal for the No.1 tiebreaker of regulation wins.
Although this may be a long-shot, the possibility of Detroit breaking their absence from the playoffs is still in the air, and here is why.
It's not over for the Detroit Red Wings
The Montreal Canadiens are tired, it was noted in their game on Tuesday, by their sloppy gameplay during the first two-periods, and the team hasn't had much of a break as of late.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Red Wings have proved they're hungry, they sparked a two-game winning streak this past week against two huge playoff competitors, one being the
Florida Panther who they will be facing tonight.
Despite the huge obstacle Detroit will be facing before the playoffs, there is still a chance the team can push through.
Do you believe the Red Wings can do it?
