Are the Florida Panthers going to imitate the Red Wings of 1942?
In the 2024 NHL playoffs, the storylines is looking like the historic 1942 Stanley Cup Finals that figured the Detroit Red Wings against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Back then, Detroit took the lead 3-0 over the Toronto Maple Leafs, only to see the Leafs winning 4 straigth game to win the Stanley Cup.
Now, the Florida Panthers are in a similar situation against the Edmonton Oilers. After gaining an advance of 3-0 in the series, the Panthers looked like it was all done for the Stanley Cup. However, the Oilers have made an impressive comeback since then, winning three straight games to force a Game 7.
If the Oilers win Game 7, the Panthers will share the same fate as the 1942 Red Wings, becoming another team to lose a series after leading 3-0.
As hockey history is probably about to be written, this Game 7 promises to be an high intensity one and a chance for Edmonton to do the same legendary comeback as the Maple Leafs from 1942.
