Jaromir Jagr, one of hockey's most legendary figures, has officially set his retirement plans in motion.
According to his agent, Jaroslav Zidek, Jagr will retire with the Kladno Knights, the team he owns at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. At 52 years old, Jagr defies the odds, registering an assist in his season debut with Kladno, proving that even after 37 seasons of professional hockey, he can still contribute at a high level in one of Europe's top leagues.
Jagr's incredible longevity has captivated fans, especially younger ones who may not have witnessed the early years of his career when he starred with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1990s. His unmatched commitment to the game has allowed him to continue playing long past what many thought was possible.
However, with this being his final season, fans who still wish to see him on the ice should make plans soon. Jagr's decision to play this season has also pushed his Hockey Hall of Fame eligibility back to 2028. As TSN's Chris Johnston reported, there will be little debate when the time comes for his induction, as Jagr is widely expected to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
