The Hockey Community Is In Mourning As Actor And former Hershey Bear Winger Passes Away

While Tenesi isn't a name you'd be familiar with as a hockey fan, if you've seen the movie "Slapshot" from the 1970s with Paul Newman, you'd know who he is.

Tenesi played a character opposite to the stars of the film, The Hanson Bros, who were outright Goons and gave the movie its comedic flair.

While Tenesi played a skilled winger, he indirectly influenced us all by appearing in the movie itself.

Tenesi did more than play a hockey player in a film; he had a professional career outside of making an appearance with the "Charlestown Chiefs".

During his professional hockey career, he won a Calder Cup with the Hershey Bears during the 1974 season, and would follow it up with a Lockhart Cup in the NAHL with the Johnstown Jets. Mr. Consistent.

While we should all know him best as "Billy Charlebois," a skilled winger on a losing Chiefs team, someone who knew him better than all of us would make a heartfelt statement on the 71-year-old's passing.

It seems unfair that life steals from us all the time in many ways, and for Tenesi, he had a dedicated fanbase of people who loved Slapshot as an iconic movie, and for him, an iconic role.

However, his professional career has gone unsung, all the while he proudly has been seen wearing the Charlestown Chiefs crest.
