The hockey world is mourning the loss following some terrible news from the Anaheim Ducks organization that a young Paddy O'Donnell has passed away at age of 23.

Young goaltender Paddy O'Donnell has become a special member of the Anaheim Ducks organization after past visits with the team saw him take part in morning practice, be in attendance at games, or even be in the locker room to hype the team up prior to puck drop.
He built a great relationship with Anaheim's number-one netminder, Lukas Dostal, who would travel down to Carlsbad, O'Donnell's area, to meet for lunch.
«He's been my friend now for over a year, and it's beautiful, the compassion he shows for my situation,» O'Donnell said. «There's a very good understanding between us as goalies. It's like we're on the same team.»

The organization has confirmed that Paddy, at the age of 23, has sadly lost his battle with cancer.

Anaheim Ducks mourn the loss of Paddy O'Donnell

"With a heavy heart we mourn the loss of our friend Paddy O'Donnell, who passed away over the weekend.

We were thrilled to host Paddy and his family two seasons ago at Hockey Fights Cancer Night, where the former goalie spent time postgame with his friend, our own Lukas Dostal.

Our thoughts and best wishes go out to the O'Donnell family and everybody who had the pleasure of bringing Paddy into their lives."
