The Pittsburgh Penguins are mourning the loss of legendary long-time broadcaster Mike Lange, who passed away at the age of 76.

There has been a tragic passing confirmed in the NHL, as longtime Pittsburgh Penguins broadcaster Mike Lange has left us at the age of 76.
The NHL is saddened by the passing of long-time @penguins play-by-play broadcaster Mike Lange, recipient of the Hockey Hall of Fame's Foster Hewitt Award in 2001 for outstanding contributions to his profession. Our thoughts are with his family and his many friends in the game.
He began his broadcasting career with the Penguins in 1974 and then was officially on the job from 1976 to his retirement in 2021.
Among the players that he called as members of the Penguins included Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr, Tom Barrasso, Ron Francis, Paul Coffey, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and countless others.
Upon his retirement in 2021, Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was full of kind words for him, saying he'll forever be a member of the organization.
He's just a great man, and you automatically associate his voice with our team. The passion, expression and words he used to describe things are just so original to him. I will miss seeing him around the rink, but his calls will always be linked with the great memories. He's always going to be a part of our team.

Those of us at Red Wings Insider send our prayers and condolences to the family of Mike Lange, one of the most legendary figures ever behind a sports microphone.
