Detroit Red Wings veteran sets bold expectations for the organizations upcoming season

The Detroit Red Wings' goal this season is to make the playoffs, according to forward Andrew Copp, which should excite Todd McLellan and could make the Yzerplan an undersell, with one of Steve Yzerman's recent statements.
The Detroit Red Wings were just shy of a playoff spot last season after being beaten out by the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens. The team's season was a failure, finishing 6th in the Atlantic.
That is not the kind of energy forward Andrew Copp wants to bring this year, as he is determined to make the playoffs. Should the Red Wings miss the mark, it'll be another unfortunate season for the rebuilding organization.
In opposition to General Manager Steve Yzerman, to him, it's not about progress, it's about competition.

The Red Wings were a team that was capable of making it to the playoffs last season, according to McLellan.
«We were good enough as a group to make the playoffs, and we didn't,» McLellan said. «And we proved that with the win streaks that we went through. We proved that with the games that we were in.
It'll be up to Copp and the team on the ice to prove that they're a competitive team who can withstand the adversity of the postseason, should they make it past April this year.
The Michigan native was taken out of the lineup last season after undergoing pectoral surgery.
