The Detroit Red Wings are competitive this season and have been named a landing spot for this former Stanley Cup champion forward, and Nashville Predator.
With a record of 12-14-4 and 8th in the Central Division, the Nashville Predators may have to consider tearing it down via trade. Forward Jonathan Marchessault is one of the Nashville Predators' movable pieces this season and could be finding a new home soon.
The Detroit Red Wings have been named one trade destination for the former Stanley Cup champion.
NHL Insider Nick Kypreos believes that Jonathan Marchessault could be a trade target for multiple teams and is one player General Manager Barry Trotz could stand to move him quicker than Steven Stamkos.
Nick Kypreos said, "Jonathan Marchessault is...a guy that comes a lot cheaper than Stamkos, and I think there's a tremendous amount of appeal to add more scoring with a guy like that."

Jonathan Marchessault is in the second year of his five-year $5.5 million average annual value salary, which he signed on July 1st, 2024.
As a known goal-scoring forward, the Red Wings could absorb his salary with $16.5 million available. He'd slot into the top six without resistance and hopefully hit the ground running, as the team could help unlock the brilliance we've seen from him in the past.
As a 'misfit' with the Vegas Golden Knights, he's been a dynamic forward, scoring 28 goals in 76 games during the Knights' Stanley Cup run in 2022-23.
He could be a great piece in trade if the team finds a way to move depth forward, Jonatan Berggren, as part of the package. Berggren could find a fresh start, and Marchessault could find himself on a team that could be heading for the playoffs.
The Red Wings are one landing spot that makes sense for Jonathan Marchessault; Steve Yzerman only needs to pick up the phone.
