The Red Wings have departed for a short road trip, but they're going to be down a pair of players thanks to injury as they prepare for Tuesday's game.
It will be a brief 1-game road trip for the
Detroit Red Wings, who will play the Minnesota Wild for the 2nd time in a week.
This time, they'll face one another in St. Paul at Xcel Energy Center; the Red Wings will be looking for a better result this time than the 5-4 overtime loss they suffered on Saturday.
However, they'll have to do so while shorthanded. Forward
Andrew Copp has been placed on Injured Reserve thanks to an injury he suffered during the loss to the Wild on Saturday; he'll miss at least the next 3 games.
Additionally, the Red Wings won't have forward
Michael Rasmussen available either; he was hurt on Sunday after taking a dirty blindside hit to the head from Anaheim Ducks forward
Trevor Zegras, who was suspended for 3 games as a result.
Per Coach McLellan, Andrew Copp (exact timeline TBD) & Michael Rasmussen (day-to-day) will be unavailable tomorrow in Minnesota.
Andrew Copp was hurt after joining an on-ice melee against the Wild on Saturday
During Saturday's game, Red Wings forward
Alex DeBrincat leveled Minnesota's
Brock Faber with a devastating hit next to the Detroit goal.
Immediately, the Wild stepped in to try and defend their teammate by confronting DeBrincat; Copp jumped in as well and appeared to injure his shoulder while trying to pry away a Minnesota player.
Copp left for the dressing room and did not return for the rest of the game; the Red Wings would soon rule him out and eventually place him on Injured Reserve, meaning he'd miss at least the next 4 games.
