The Detroit Red Wings will be without one of their top-six forwards in the lineup, as their injury was announced by Coach Todd McLellan today.
The Athletic's Max Bultman inquired about the status of Red Wings forward
Patrick Kane.
This comes after the plaguing injury news of
Lucas Raymond, who's considered day-to-day.
According to Head Coach Todd McLellan, the veteran winger crashed into the boards late in the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning last night.
The win was a great show of skill against their foes, but the loss that resulted could impact the team later down the road.
The Detroit Red Wings Lose Patrick Kane To An Undisclosed Injury
The Detroit Red Wings will be missing
two key forwards in the lineup, as Patrick Kane joins Lucas Raymond on the injured list.
That is two players the team cannot afford to be missing early in the season, as they struggle to piece together a winning record in the NHL.
Kane struggled to find himself on the scoresheet last night, with 2 shots on goal, 1 hit, and 4 giveaways, playing 22 shifts last night, and 17:42 time on ice.
"Kane (upper body) won't be in the lineup against Edmonton on Sunday, per Ansar Khan of MLive.com.
Kane will miss at least one game after suffering the injury late in Friday's 2-1 overtime win over Tampa Bay. He still has to be evaluated further, so a timeline for his return remains unclear. If Lucas Raymond (upper body) isn't ready to play against the Oilers,
Jonatan Berggren will replace Kane in Sunday's lineup"
The Red Wings will have to rely on a call-up or a depth forward in an attempt to fill that gap now.
In 5 games, he's scored 5 points (2-3) this season. The 1300-game NHL
veteran is in the final year of his deal with the team. Is he due for a trade or an extension?
