An analyst has unveiled that a decision has been made by the Detroit Red Wings regarding their expected offseason free agency acquisition, and it is surprising.

The Detroit Red Wings are in desperate need to swing a full turnaround this offseason if they intend to break their nine-year postseason absence, and new insight reveals the team is expected to do just that.
Let's break it down.
The Detroit Red Wings are in need of a top-six forward, top-four defensemen and a generally gritty and abrasive addition.
And the organization stands with roughly $21 million in cap space.
With this being said, an analyst has revealed that the Red Wings are set to pursue some Panthers who are expected to hit free agency this offseason, as Florida can offer Detroit the kind of players they are currently seeking.

The Detroit Red Wings are set to make a deal with the Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers will have a short window to sign three players when their playoff series ends, as the market opens on July 1.
These three players are; Sam Bennett, Aaron Ekblad, and Brad Marchand.
All players named would provide a significant boost to the Red Wings' current roster that has many holes, but one name sticks out more than the others.
And that's defenseman Aaron Ekblad who could immediately make an impact on one of the NHL's worst struggling blueline of the 2024/25 season.
«Aaron Ekblad: The top pick in the 2014 draft has spent his entire career in Florida and is the club's second-longest tenured player. The Panthers might not feel as much urgency to re-sign him after acquiring Seth Jones at the trade deadline, another big, skilled, right-shooting defenseman. Ekblad, 29, is coming off an eight-year deal at a $7.5 million AAV. He plays on the Panthers' top pairing and first power play and penalty killing units. If the Windsor native bolts Florida, would he be interested in playing close to home?» Stated Ansar Khan with mlive.com.

The offseason free agency frenzy is set to kick off shortly following the completion of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers, and all eyes will be on GM Steve Yzerman to see if he can improve the roster, to ultimately take himself off the hot seat.
