An unexpected trade between the Red Wings and Canucks involving a top-4 defenseman has been proposed
An unexpected trade scenario between the Detroit Red Wings and the Vancouver Canucks involving a top-four defenseman was proposed in a new report.
While they completed a few massive trades at the deadline, many fans and analysts expected big changes in the offseason, especially with
Quinn Hughes' contract expiring at the end of the next season.
A report suggested they could keep selling off players, this time, in a trade proposal involving the Detroit Red Wings.
Red Wings Acquire Tyler Myers In New Trade Proposal With Canucks
"Detroit Red Wings acquire: Tyler Myers
Vancouver Canucks acquire: Justin Holl, Eemil Viro, and a conditional 2028 second-round pick that becomes a first-round pick if Detroit advances to the Eastern Conference Finals before the 2028 NHL Draft."
Such a move would be massive for the Wings blue line. With an already big defensive unit, Myers, at 6-foot-8, would make Detroit's defense group one of the toughest to play against in the NHL.
Myers, 35, scored 395 points in 1,066 NHL games for the Buffalo Sabres, Winnipeg Jets, and Canucks.
It would be surprising to see Yzerman shipping away a young player and a draft pick for a veteran like Myers, but the idea of getting rid of Justin Holl's $3,400,000 AAV contract could be enticing, especially with Myers' affordable $3,000,000 AAV deal expiring at the end of the 2026-27 season.
