The Detroit Red Wings are preparing to receive a major boost to their organization, with reports from Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now indicating that elite defense prospect Axel Sandin Pellikka will join the team once his SHL season concludes.

He is regarded as one of the NHL's best defensive prospects, Sandin-Pellikka dominates U21 scoring in Sweden's top-tier SHL, tallying up 12 goals and 29 points over 46 games - at 20 years of age.
He is ninth among all SHL defensemen, irrespective of age.
Since being selected 17th overall by Detroit in the 2023 NHL Draft, Sandin-Pellikka's development has been better than ever.
In his debut full professional season last year with Skelleftea AIK, he notched 12 goals and 25 points across 53 games.

Now given the opportunity in a top-defensive pairing role, he logs upwards of 24 minutes per game.
Sandin-Pellikka also shined at this year's World Junior Championships, captaining Team Sweden with and tallied up four goals and 10 points in seven games.
He WILL be the best defenseman on the Detroit Red Wings in 2 years tops. Axel's comps would be Quinn Hughes and Cale Makar.

As a defenseman he has vision to lead breakouts and rushes. With high level speed and puck control. In the offensive zone his vision is on another level on his first assist he draws two defenders creating a clean lane for his teammate. He also has a deadly one-timer as seen on this goal. He also is a physical and a reliable on puck defenseman. This will be the piece that truly propels the Red Wings next year.
His performance tied him for the team lead and secured him second place tournament-wide in scoring.
Buckle up Red Wings fans, he will be in North America soon!
