The Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin was left off Team USA's Olympic announcement, but that doesn't mean he won't take part in the event.

Today has been a big day for international hockey, as countries set to compete in the 2026 Olympic hockey tournament each announced six players who will be in their lineup, including two Detroit Red Wings players.
Unsurprisingly, Team USA has announced that Quinn Hughes, the Tkachuk brothers, Auston Matthews, Jack Eichel, and Charlie McAvoy will be looking to retaliate after an embarrassing loss at the 4-Nations Face-Off against Canada.
Bill Guerin, Team USA's GM, provided comments on the first players:
"We've seen the unprecedented success of our U.S. teams on the international stage this past season and we need to keep our foot on the gas."

"We haven't won an Olympic gold in men's hockey since 1980 and we're out to change that."

"The players we've named today represent excellence. They're committed to the mission in front of us and excited about the opportunity to represent our country in the Olympics."
With only six names revealed, not many fans expected to see Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin listed-though he's undeniably among the best American forwards in the NHL. According to a new report, Larkin's omission is temporary, and he is expected to be added when the full Olympic roster is finalized.
Larkin, 28, has been a key member of Team USA on the international stage for nearly a decade. Despite the 4-Nations loss, he still scored five points in four games, centering the second line. He was also a key penalty killer throughout the tournament.
Before that, at the 2023 IIHF World Championship, the Wings captain put up nine points in nine games.
In the NHL, Larkin continues to produce at a high level, despite his team's struggles. He finished the 2024-25 season with 72 points in 76 games.
Larkin is almost certain to be included as Team USA rounds out its Olympic roster, as they look to bring the gold back home.
