Detroit Red Wings Centennial jersey reveal draws mixed emotions from fans

The Detroit Red Wings will celebrate their 100th season in franchise history, making the 2025-26 season a historic one. Although most fans want to see the team make the playoffs above all else, including the Centennial celebrations that will go on all season long in Detroit, fans were also excited to see the new uniform.

The organization officially unveiled the uniform ahead of its 100th anniversary season earlier this week, and it provoked mixed reactions within the fanbase.

The jersey was designed to represent every era of the club's existence. It includes references to the past versions of the Wings.

Team executives made clear that the intent was to honor tradition while adding new meaning for the Centennial year.
