Supplemental discipline incoming as Lucas Raymond suffers injury in Red Wings' win vs. the Senators. Sunday

The Ottawa Senators have stormed Little Caesars Arena with a vengeance. On Detroit Red Wings home ice, James Reimer is guarding the crease against his former team.

A team whose aims surpass the Senators, who're bottom-dwellers in the Division, and look to dig themselves out of their own hole.

But it looks like Ridley Grieg may be one player whose intent on keeping his own team down unintentionally after he harmed Lucas Raymond.

The top-Red Wings forward would fall to the ice, lying facedown on his stomach while the play continued. He'd try to get up on his own recognizance, moving his knees close to propel himself up and off the ice, but failed.

He'd been in extreme discomfort as a result of Ridley Greig's actions, which looked like it was shoulder-to-head contact. This happened all the while Greig was on the way to the bench, a careless act which netted him a minor-penalty for "interference".

The Red Wings can't catch a break with the number of injuries they've had to deal with this season.

The Red Wings forward was supposed to suit up for Sweden for the Olympics in February, but depending on the severity of the injury, his season outlook could change for the worse.

The Swedish-born forward Raymond assessed his own greatest offensive asset, which the Red Wings would miss dearly if he comes out of this game injured long-term.

And while Grieg escaped the night with a minor-penalty, the chance for a suspension lies in wait. It just depends on how the Department of Player Safety and George Parros attack the issue.

In 47 games this year, Raymond has scored 52 points (14-38) after undergoing a gusty demotion by Todd McLellan.

The last thing he needs is a major injury to work through before he has to consider giving up his shot at a gold medal in Milan-Cortina.
