The Detroit Red Wings remain mathematically alive in the postseason chase thanks to last night's 4-3 victory in overtime over the divisional foe Tampa Bay Lightning.

While it may have been a tall test, the Detroit Red Wings managed to delay their elimination from any chance at the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Rookie Marco Kasper scored twice, including the game winner in the extra session of two with the two clubs tied at two goals apiece, as part of Detroit's 4-3 overtime win over the divisional foe Tampa Bay Lightning.
As coach Todd McLellan would explain afterward, the Red Wings players showed one another a lot in the victory.
They showed each other a lot, it's not necessarily what they showed me and that's way more important when they play for their teammates. But they did respond. We had a good discussion this morning about what we expect from each other and they played to it.

A few guys spoke up and it didn't look good right off the bat getting scored on early (61 seconds in), but we stayed with it and found a way to scrape out a win in a building that's tough to play in.

In addition to Kasper's pair of goals, the Red Wings also got goals from Patrick Kane and Tyler Motte, both of whom are playing on expiring contracts.
In order to finally end their lengthy postseason skid, the Red Wings need to win out their remaining games while also needing the divisional foe Montreal Canadiens to lose out the rest of the way.
Can lightning strike twice for the Red Wings, who have yet to make the playoffs since 2016?
