If the Detroit Red Wings want to upgrade their blueline, Steve Yzerman could combine with the Los Angeles Kings in a trade for blockbuster talent, Brandt Clarke.

The Detroit Red Wings have promoted first-round pick Axel Sandin-Pellikka to the regular lineup. Imagine if they could add another first-round pick to the lineup from the Los Angeles Kings.
While the Red Wings strengthened the net by adding John Gibson to the lineup, and attempted to improve the forward group with Mason Appleton and James Van Riemsdyk. Yzerman saw fit to sign Jacob Bernard-Dock to the blueline during the postseason.
These moves weren't insignificant, but Heavy.com has an intriguing trade proposal that sees the Red Wings land top-talent, Brandt Clarke.
It would involve sending prospect Shai Buium and two draft picks in return for the up-and-coming defenseman.
Red Wings Get:

Brandt Clarke
Kings Get:

2026 First-Round Pick (Top 10 Protected)
2028 Fourth-Round Pick
Shai Buium

Detroit Red Wings Could Land Brandt Clark as he's been in the rumor mill

The right-shot defenseman's name has been buzzing in the trade rumor mill up until the trade deadline this past March. However, Clarke found his way back into the water cooler talk, as Lyle Richardson has placed him at number 5 on his list of the NHL Trade Board by Bleacher Report.
According to Richardson, General Manager Ken Holland wants to see how he performs this season before making a final decision on his fate in Los Angeles.
Russo said that Kings' general manager Ken Holland wants to watch Clarke's performance this season before making a decision. That could make him a player of interest in this season's rumor mill, especially if the Kings struggle in the Western Conference playoff race.

He could add some depth to the blueline, and with his skill, giving the Red Wings a nice complement to Mortiz Sieder on the right, should the team pursue him this postseason.
Clarke has played a total of 104 games in the NHL, and scored 41 points (7-34), and has played on the team's 2nd-pair during exhibition games this year.
