According to a recent report, the Detroit Red Wings are connected to an under-the-radar defenseman this summer.
Los Angeles Kings defenseman Jordan Spence is picking up a lot of attention as one of the most underrated targets available on the market at the moment, with huge upside, the Kings could ultimately look to fetch NHL ready talent in hopes to improve their roster immediately, while sacrificing some youth.
The Detroit Red Wings are also in a unique position, where they have an aging blueline of defensemen that are weighing the team down.
Ben Chiarot, Jeff Petry, and Justin Holl are three names that we may not see on the roster come puck drop of the 2025-26 season.
With Yzerman's urgency to bring the Red Wings to the playoffs for the first time since the 2015 season, paired together with his importance of having youth in the lineup, which may be a little too much, Spence is the ideal candidate to be acquired by the Red Wings.
