Detroit Red Wings rookie forward Marco Kasper gives group of kids an exciting thrill
What a great experience for the kids at Madison Elementary School in Madison Heights to visit with Detroit Red Wings rookie Marco Kasper!
The Detroit Red Wings are known as an organization that loves giving back to the community through numerous philanthropic efforts, and Tuesday was no exception.
Rookie forward Marco Kasper, who is already making a positive impact on the ice for the Red Wings, continued that effort off the ice when he made a special visit to Madison Elementary School in Madison Heights as part of the 2024-25 Red Wings for Reading program.
Decked out in his Red Wings jersey, he read 'Dino-Hockey', a book by a Michigan-based author named Lisa Wheeler, to the group of first grade students in their classroom.
It's always a good thing to pay it forward to the fans, especially to kids who are just getting acquainted with hockey. And it was a a great feeling for Kasper as he read to and visited with the students.
It's awesome being here. Obviously it's awesome for the kids, and just to see how happy they are to learn about the Red Wings and hockey in general.
Giving back to the community is awesome, and I really like doing it.
A lot of the best players became familiar with hockey when they were young. To get young kids familiar with hockey and get them to really like the game is important, then hopefully some of them will get out there on the ice.>
Getting kids started at a young age can put them on a path for a life-long love affair with the game, and Kasper helped to plant the seeds.
In his rookie year with the Red Wings, Kasper has already collected his first two NHL goals as well as earning a promotion to Detroit's second line alongside Alex DeBrincat and future Hall of Fame forward Patrick Kane.
