Detroit Red Wings defenseman Simon Edvinsson has missed the beginning of training camp thanks to a lower-body injury.

News regarding Simon Edvinsson's status was troubling at the beginning of the year. He suffered a lower-body injury, which took him out of the lineup for an extended period of time.
The Red Wings have promising news on the defenseman, as has has returned to practice with the team.
However, Todd McLellan's latest update might require some patience for fans.
«Not quite (ready) yet, but the fact that he was out there skating today I mentioned in camp, it's not overly serious,» McLellan said. «He's actually on the ice quicker than I thought he might be, but we're not going to risk anything. But he's progressing well.»

With Edvinsson out, veteran defenseman Travis Hamonic has been occupying the spot where he typically does, next to Albert Johansson.

Simon Edvinsson's Lower-Body Injury: Issues For Detroit

Edvinsson is one of the team's reliable defenseman, who has been taken out of the lineup due to an undisclosed lower-body injury.
His status remains week to week, according to General Manager Steve Yzerman of the Red Wings.
Breakout defenseman Simon Edvinsson is being listed week-to-week according to Yzerman as the team will be expecting him to be back for "sometime around the start of the regular season."

Edvinsson had a standout year in Detroit last season, scoring 31 points (7-24) in 78 games for the Red Wings.
A 6th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft finished second on the team for points as a defenseman, and was ranked 55th overall in the league.
Could this year be the start of his prime in the NHL?
