Former Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg has spoken out about the ongoing political conflict involving Russia, and now Dominik Hasek is responding

Due to the ongoing Russian offensive in Ukraine, the International Ice Hockey Federation has banned Russian players from both the World Championships and World Junior Championships; it's now been 5 years since they've been allowed to participate.
Additionally, Russia was not extended an invitation to the 4 Nations Faceoff.
Former Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg recently stated that while it's a decision made over their heads, he feels for the Russian players who are prohibited from participation by no fault of their own.
I feel sorry for the players and athletes who are not allowed to participate. But it is a decision that is made over our heads.

It is incredibly sad what is happening around the world and that is unfortunately part of it. But I feel sorry for the Russian players who have the right intentions.

But now, Zetterberg's former Red Wings teammate Dominik Hasek is responding by saying the only Russian athletes he feels sympathy for are the ones who have openly spoken out against Russian president Vladimir Putin.
Me too (I feel sympathy for Russian athletes). More precisely, only for those who condemn the Russian imperialist war, because of which more than a million people have already been killed and maimed.

Dominik Hasek has already called for the ban of Russian NHL players from the NHL

Hasek has been openly critical that the NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman allows Russian players like Alex Ovechkin to continue playing despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Hasek even went so far as to demand the NHL ban any Russian player's involvement in the League.
After the start of the Russian imperialist war, the NHL became an advertisement for this war, because Russian citizens continued to perform and play in it!. Every citizen, unless he is a dissident, is an advertisement for his country's actions.
