The Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin is facing backlash after a controversial embellishment offense against Ottawa Senators' Claude Giroux went unpunished.

Last night, a crucial Atlantic Division clash went down in Ottawa between the Senators and the Detroit Red Wings.
A lot was on the line for both teams, as the Wings had the opportunity to get to the top of the division standings, while the Senators wanted to avoid finding themselves at the bottom.
Fortunately for the Wings, they were able to take a 3-0 lead in the first period and got away with the two points in a 5-3 win.
Nearly half the team contributed offensively, with 10 players getting a point or more during the game.
The captain, Dylan Larkin, notably scored the second goal of the game, his 22nd of the season.
This was also his 264th career goal, which tied Nicklas Lidstrom for 11th among scorers in the Red Wings franchise.

However, Larkin's performance is getting overshadowed by something that has been irritating fans and players alike: his embellishment antics.

Larkin's Great Night Overshadowed By Embellishment Antics

Last night, he did it again, this time on Claude Giroux.
The Senators' veteran hit Larkin with his stick, a move that can't possibly make an NHL player fall off his skates.
But Larkin fell, attracted the referee's attention, and Giroux was sent to the penalty box.
Giroux wasn't happy at all and shared his frustration with the officials.
Here's what went down:
Attracting penalties is a part of the game, but it remains frustrating to see, especially for fans of other teams.
It'll be interesting to see if Larkin gets fined for his actions. In the NHL, $2,000 fines are handed out to players who commit their second offenses.
