The renowned NHL insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed in a new report that Artemi Panarin will leave the Rangers, making Detroit an ideal landing spot.

With the Rangers' struggles reaching new heights, which led to "Fire Drury" chants emerging at Madison Square Garden during games, the organization decided to release an official statement to address the situation.
In the statement, Chris Drury talks to fans and informs them that the team will "retool," and not rebuild, the team.
He states that some players could leave, but he plans on using the salary cap to bring in players who will bring success back to New York.

There were little doubts about the fact the Rangers would be sellers at this year's trade deadline, and this confirms it.
We can now say with confidence that Artemi Panarin will be traded by the Rangers soon.

Elliotte Friedman Confirms Artemi Panarin Trade Incoming

Artemi Panarin's situation has been followed closely this season due to his massive $11.64 million AAV contract, signed in 2019, expiring in July.
After the Rangers' statement, Elliotte Friedman confirmed in a new report that the New York Rangers won't offer a contract extension to Artemi Panarin at the end of the season.
Friedman wrote on Sportsnet that before he shared the press release, Drury met with the leaders of the team and talked with the whole team as a whole, and that Panarin was informed he wouldn't be offered a contract for next season.
According to Friedman, Drury is prepared to work with Panarin's camp to complete a trade wherever the player wants to go:
However, not all teams will be able to take on him and his contract, making the Detroit Red Wings one of the only options.
If Yzerman can get Panarin at a low price tag, he may just make it happen.
Chemistry with Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane would surely be exciting to watch for fans.
Stay tuned for more.
