In a simulation of the October 9th season opener against the Montreal Canadiens in Little Caesars Arena, EA's NHL '26 may have jinxed the Detroit Red Wings.

The EA NHL 2026 game has a simulator that predicted a shutout for the Red Wings on home ice in Little Caesars Arena tomorrow, October 9th.
This would've been heartening news for Red Wings fans who are tired of losing on a regular basis and failing to achieve playoff status.
It ultimately ended up jinxing the team and goaltender John Gibson, as it predicted a 3-0 shutout of the Montreal Canadiens on opening night.
Just moments into the game, John Gibson let 3 goals in on 5 shots.

Could EA NHL 26 Jinx the New-Look Detroit Red Wings?

Patrick Kane, Dylan Larkin, J.T. Compher, and rookie Marco Kasper were all ghosts in the game.
While this is nothing more than a computer making a prediction, nothing is certain, and for the Red Wings, they're surely hoping John Gibson can turn things around.
