If the Detroit Red Wings are worried about more offensive production, Steve Yzerman could pursue forward Tyler Bertuzzi from the Blackhawks to re-acquire the former 20-goal scorer.

The Detroit Red Wings began their season with a home opener full of hope and festivities, kicking off their Centennial Season. Fans would resort to throwing animals on the ice while the team failed to perform up to expectations.
They would lose to a rebuilding Montreal Canadiens team, 5-1, and the weaknesses of the team are glaring at this point. In order to come close to breaking their nine-year playoff drought, the team will need more help to produce more offense.
One player who could find his way back into the lineup and bring his goal-scoring talents back to Detroit would be Tyler Bertuzzi. He was originally a 58th overall pick in the 2013 NHL draft by the Red Wings.
The Red Wings have $11 million in cap space, and could accommodate his salary if they chose to re-acquire their former 2nd-round draft pick. He could put the team back on the right path if they sent a trade package full of picks and prospects to Chicago.
The pitch proposed by Heavy.com is below:
Red Wings Get:

Tyler Bertuzzi
Blackhawks Get:

2026 Second-Round Pick
2027 Fourth-Round Pick
Amadeus Lombardi

Detroit Could Utilize Tyler Bertuzzi on the Top Line

Tyler Bertuzzi's chemistry with Dylan Larkin is just one reason alone that the Red Wings should take a shot at trading for him again. He could immediately slot in on the top line and provide another scoring weapon along with Lucas Raymond.
He could find a spot in the power-play with his prowess and add some grit that is missing in the Red Wings' lineup as of late.
Bertuzzi has started the 2025-26 season nicely, scoring 2 points (2A) in 2 games on the team's 2nd-line led by Frank Nazar.
In return the Blackhawks could receive top-prospect Amadeus Lombardi, and a 2nd-round and 4th-round pick in order to add to the prospect pool in return.
Last season with the Blackhawks, Bertuzzi scored a total of 46 points (23-23) in 82 games. Adding more secondary scoring like him would be a major win for the Red Wings and for fans.
