Dominik Kubalik, a former forward for the Red Wing, has joined HC Ambri-Piotta in the Swiss league. He was part of the Alex Debrincat trade that took place last season.
Another former Detroit Red Wing is heading overseas this season. Dominik Kubalik, who played as a winger for Detroit Red Wing during the 2022-23 season, has signed with HC Ambri-Piotta in the Swiss league. The announcement came on social media Wednesday, shortly after former Red Wing Filip Zadina also signed with HC Davos in the same league. Dominik Kubalik had a solid year with Detroit Red Wings, amassing 45 points in 81 games, just shy of his career high, after joining the Red Wings as a free agent from the Chicago Blackhawks, who did not extend him a qualifying offer.
During his single season with the Ottawa Senators, Dominik Kubalik's scoring diminished, with only 15 points (11 goals) in 74 games, while Alex DeBrincat scored 67 points in 82 games. Kubalik's move to Switzerland marks a return to familiar territory; he previously played for Ambri-Piotta from 2017 to 2019, scoring at a point-per-game pace with 84 points in 75 games. Both Kubalik and Ambri-Piotta will look to rekindle that success.
