The Jets have taken a player off the NHL's trade bait board and it's their own, announcing the contract extension of a once-Detroit Red Wings forward.
32-year old
Vladislav Namestnikov once showed great promise early on in his NHL career with a 48-point season in 2017-18.
Sadly since, he has not been able to find stability with a specific organization, bouncing around eight different teams between his career-year and the 2022-23 season.
That specific deal has not worked out for the Jets, but he still provides secondary-offensive scoring with them, picking up 11 goals and 26 assists in 78 games last season, his second-highest point total season of his career.
As a reliable middle-six forward, Namestnikov earned himself a 50% raise on his new agreement, announced by Elliotte Friedman.
Namestnikov's agent, Dan Milstein was first to announce his players signing, followed by the report from Elliotte Friedman, confirming his earnings.
Namestnikov issues statement on his extension with the Winnipeg Jets
"I love Winnipeg. Ever since I got here I've loved every second of it. I wanted to get something done and it was fairly quick, so I'm happy we could get something done."
