Former Detroit Red Wing Brendan Shanahan takes on an exciting new job in the junior world.

Last we knew, former Detroit Red Wings forward Brendan Shanahan was added to the NHL's Hockey Operations department at the beginning of the season.
Was the job too cushy? Or did he not like it?
It came as a surprise to us that Shanahan took on that role, and seemed like a cushy gig for the former Toronto Maple Leafs President who oversaw the tenure of General Manager Lou Lamoriello and Kyle Dubas, who also helped usher in the eras of Mike Babcock and Sheldon O'Keefe for the historic franchise.
Now he's jetsetting elsewhere, as it's been reported that he's taking on a new role to review the sport of men's junior hockey in Ontario, per Hockey Canada.
NHL Insider Chris Johnston:
"Brendan Shanahan has been hired to lead a review of men's junior hockey in Ontario, according to Hockey Canada."

Former Detroit Red Wing Brendan Shanahan jumps from the NHL to junior hockey

He'll be reviewing the sport of men's hockey in Ontario, which to us sounds like a broad job with a lot of responsibilities.
This isn't strange to Shanahan, who oversaw and overhauled the look of the Maple Leafs multiple times during his tenure, until he was relieved of his position in Toronto at the beginning of the year.
Since then, the three-time Stanley Cup champion and former Red Wing has extended his connection to hockey beyond the professional game and into the beginning of the journey, into the junior side of the sport.
He'll be bringing 1,524 games of NHL experience, three cups, and 1,354 points (656-698) to his next position.
Though his success in the NHL spoke for itself, he never did win a Cup as a member of the Maple Leafs front office. Could he be a useful addition to junior hockey?
