The Detroit Red Wings return to home ice tonight at Little Caesars Arena against the Los Angeles Kings (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
They've gathered for their morning skate at the venue in preparation for the game, and there are several notable absences.
In the first place, forward Patrick Kane has yet to resume skating since suffering an upper-body injury during last week's loss against the Dallas Stars; he's missed the last two games in a row.
Meanwhile, per MLive's Ansar Khan, both J.T. Compher and Vladimir Tarasenko are not skating.
But the good news is that forward Michael Rasmussen, who was tripped late in Saturday night's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning by forward Nikita Kucherov, is skating.
Kucherov intentionally tripped Rasmussen as he was about to score an empty net goal to seal the victory; he got back to his skates in a hurry but was later seen requiring assistance to get back down the tunnel toward the dressing room.
The Red Wings will be aiming to secure their 3rd straight victory tonight, having already beaten the divisional foes Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning in the first pair of games of their home stand.
They'll soon head out to Western Canada for several games.
