Patrick Kane's injury status was updated before the Detroit Red Wings game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday.
The 22-14-3 Detroit Red Wings will face off against their Original Six rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs, on Sunday, in Little Caesars Arena.
The team will look to utilize home ice advantage in a must-win scenario on Sunday. One key piece in the lineup, Patrick Kane, remains in questionable status today.
He failed to return to the ice on Saturday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes, when they could've used his scoring prowess and skills the most.
But, again, it appears his status is still questionable per NHL.com:
Patrick Kane is questionable to return from an upper-body injury against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday (7 p.m. ET; FDSNDET, SNO).
Kane has missed the last six games and could've been a balancing force against the always-contending Carolina Hurricanes.
Without the Red Wings' top power play specialist, the team won't have an equalizer against the Maple Leafs, who rely on Auston Matthews and William Nylander as goal scorers.
Will forward Patrick Kane be a game-time decision for the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday?
Patrick Kane has scored 23 points (6-17) in 24 games as a Red Wings player this season.
Last season with the Red Wings, he scored 59 points (21-38) in 72 games. He's just shy of completing a career milestone this season due to being out recovering from an injury.
The Red Wings signed Kane to a one-year, $3 million average annual value contract, which expires at the end of the season.
This could be the year he and the Red Wings make a legitimate run at the playoffs. Can he return in time to help the push?
