Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso, who is now playing with Grand Rapids, has unveiled a sharp brand new look.
For hockey fans who like to keep track of the different gear that goaltenders wear that help make them among professional sports' most unique athletes, this one is for you.
Detroit Red Wings goaltender
Ville Husso, who has played most of the year with the Grand Rapids Griffins, has unveiled a brand new, black based gear setup.
It's a contrast from his previous gear setups, which were all white based with red aesthetics. But now, he's switching things up.
Goaltenders are creatures of habit and reportedly among the most superstitious of all hockey players, who are already superstitious by habit.
Unfortunately for Husso and the Griffins, they fell short against the Iowa Wild. However, Husso made several saves in the loss, including the one below:
Ville Husso was demoted by the Red Wings earlier this year
He initially began the year on the roster and was given the start on Opening Night against the Pittsburgh Penguins by now-former head coach Derek Lalonde, but was pulled midway through the 2nd period after allowing 5 goals.
Husso has gone 7-4 with a 2.60 GAA with the Griffins, while going 1-5-2 with a 3.69 GAA with the Red Wings.
He was first acquired by Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman in a trade with the St. Louis Blues in the summer of 2022 and signed to a 3-year contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $4.75 million.
