Put him in the history books! Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane has officially made NHL history as part of Detroit's 5-4 shootout win over the Kraken.
They call him "Showtime" for a good reason, and he provided yet another one of the countless examples that he's shown throughout his Hall of Fame career.
In doing so, he put himself in the record books yet again and made NHL history - he now has the most goals in the shootout of any player, ever.
The Red Wings initially enjoyed leads of 1-0, 2-1, and 4-2 before the Kraken managed to tie the score on each occasion.
It marks their second 7-game winning streak since they terminated Derek Lalonde on December 26 and hired Todd McLellan in his place.
Additionally, the Red Wings swept their 4-game road swing thanks to victories over the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, Vancouver Cancuks, and Kraken.
They've maintained their Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. At 28-21-5, the Red Wings now have 61 points.
Their next opponent is the divisional foe Tampa Bay Lightning, whom they'll play at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday afternoon. It will carry major implications in the standings, as the Lightning now trail Detroit by a single point, but also have a pair of games in hand.
