Roger McQueen: Detroit Red Wings draft target

Roger McQueen is a towering, 6'5" center who last played for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL.

Injury issues may have caused his stock in the NHL Draft to tank a bit, but he was once considered in the top five of this draft class.

While back injuries are nothing to sneeze at, McQueen is young and could still find himself selected maybe lower than he'd expect, and that would be okay.

Other players who have had to go through injury issues prior to their draft have found themselves having successful years in their respective leagues, like Cayden Lindstrom in 2024.

While some GMs exercise caution, this would be a pertinent time for Yzerman to play it risky. 6'5" centermen are difficult to come by, especially with wheels, as he's a very mobile player. His small sample size of 17 games this season was marked with a beyond point per game production at 20 points (10-10) and 40 PIMs.

He also added 1 goal in three playoff games. A wild card by any means, but worth exploring at the very least.

Craig Button feels he's got a Ryan Getzlaf style of play, big and skilled, and we all saw how he lit up the NHL.
