Steve Yzerman leaks major signing by the Detroit Red Wings

In hockey, sometimes it's a tit-for-tat world, with news of Derek Lalonde signing in Toronto, maybe Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings could get them back by signing forward Mitch Marner during the postseason.
The Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman will need major talent to bring the nine-year playoff drought to an end.
The kind of talent the Red Wings need will be a gamebreaker, and a forward who can find the back of the net.
One of those prominent signings mentioned this postseason by the Wings could end up being someone like Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
His time in Toronto has come to an end. After enduring scathing criticism and a public harassment campaign, the 102-point scorer could find a new home south of Ontario.
Why not the Red Wings?
«We've kind of felt that all along, we're going to look at any good player - any player that can help us in any role - if there's a player worthy of spending whatever amount on, that has an interest in playing in Detroit and fits a need for us, absolutely we would try to do that,» Yzerman said on April 29. «
Marner could immediately push the team into the playoffs and give the Red Wings the offense that's been missing. Of course, we will have to consider his possible contract projections, which could be upwards of $13 million AAV.
It seems the ties between Marner and Brad Treliving were severed long ago after a trade between the Maple Leafs and the Hurricanes was nixed this season.
He is now a pending UFA and doesn't plan on returning to Canada to play in the NHL next season.
Boeser
If Yzerman isn't a fan of spending that much for a superstar forward, the team could look to more viable, affordable wingers from Vancouver and Winnipeg.
Those two we're thinking of? Brock Boeser, who's been sneaky good lately, while he did decline in production, his last three seasons saw him score 55, 73, and 50 (25-25) this season.
He'd be an affordable option, should Mitch Marner not be on the table.
