News travels fast, as Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman made an offer for New York Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson, and it hasn't been well received.

The Detroit Red Wings desperately need to upgrade their blueline. In order to do so, Steve Yzerman has made contact with the Islanders in order to see about the availability of Noah Dobson.
However, it appears that the idea proposed for Noah Dobson and the Islanders isn't enough to get it done. Many are considering the idea of trading two third-liners, Jonatan Berggren and JT Compher, not enough for the defenseman due for a raise.
a pair of Detroit forwards, JT Compher and Jonathan Berggren, are part of the package being offered to the Isles. Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman may also be willing to part with draft picks to make this deal happen.

Which, for someone like Lou Lamiorello, may have been enough to get it done, but his time has passed.
And unfortunately, it's difficult to disagree with the notion it's a low-ball offer, as Compher is past his prime, and Berggren is due a fresh start elsewhere.
Compher is aging out, at 30, and has put up 32 points in 76 games with the Red Wings, while Berggren has some upside, it's doubtful that Patrick Roy could be the one to tap into it.
Berggren posted a total of 24 points in 75 games this season.
In order for Yzerman to be serious about acquiring Noah Dobson, he'll have to figure out a way to get it done with more than just 3rd-liners.
